__________________________
While Exeter's College Counseling Office will provide occasional support to gap year and transfer applicants, it is our expectation that you have acquired the skills necessary to complete the college admissions process. Our primary responsibility is to the current student body; we know Exonians are characterized by their ability to think independently, evaluate information critically, and utilize appropriate research tools, all of which are necessary to ensure a successful college match.
If you are a recent PEA alumnus/ae* and you are planning to file a new college application this year (either as a transfer applicant or as a first year student after having completed a gap year) please submit a transcript request following the guidelines above. The following information also applies:
- Please remember that the CCO is busy processing applications for the current senior class and kindly give the office 10 working days to complete your request.
- The CCO follows the Principles of Good Practice set by the National Association of College Admissions Counselors. The College Counseling Office expects that Alumni will self-report their records honestly and fully. Alumni should also know that some colleges and universities ask the Academy about discipline issues as part of the application. Phillips Exeter's policy is to report on discipline whenever a college asks the question on any application. This policy continues after initial applications are filed and after graduation if an alumnus or alumnae initiates a transfer or Gap Year application.
Additional Notes:
- Gap year students: Please let the CCO know how you have spent your interim year and if you are currently deferred from any other university.
- Transfer applicants: It is very helpful to our counseling of other students to know why alumni consider transferring out of their current colleges. To that end, we would appreciate your responding to the year-end Transfer and Gap Year Application Results questionnaire when it is emailed to you in June. Your feedback is extraordinarily helpful and greatly appreciated. Information on Transfer applications
- Exonians who did not receive a diploma from the Academy for any reason, including a Requirement to Withdraw, should contact the Dean of Students Office for official Academy transcripts.
