Interviews & Tours
What's it really like? Come and see!
The best way to get to know Exeter is to see us in action: classes changing, students studying, plays rehearsing, people hanging out. That’s why, if you’re applying to Exeter, we urge you to schedule your required personal interview to take place on campus. Remember—a personal interview is a required step in the admissions process.
On-Campus Interviews
When you schedule your on-campus interview, we will schedule a tour as well. A current student will take you and your family around campus and answer your questions: What’s it like being in a class with only 12 students? Do you like living in a dorm? Is the food really good?
- You’ll see our facilities, classrooms and Harkness tables, and you’ll see real students and teachers interacting.
- Interviews must be completed by January 31 for a March 10 decision.
- Tours take about 45 minutes
- The interview is about 30 minutes, and we’ll speak with your parents afterward. Plan on the entire tour and interview process to take about 2 hours.
- Interviews are conducted Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and some Saturday mornings, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Off-Campus Interviews
At Exeter, we urge you to visit campus and meet with us, but we realize that distance and personal circumstances may make a campus visit impossible. In those cases, we can arrange an off-campus interview for you.
- If you need an off-campus interview, please submit your Applicant Information Form (AIF) indicating your request. Simply check the "Off-Campus" box at the bottom of the third page of the AIF. We will send a letter to you with contact information.
- We must receive your Applicant Information Form by January 7 for a March 10 decision.
- Interviews must be completed by January 31 for a March 10 decision.
- The interview is generally about one hour. You’ll be meeting with an Exeter graduate in your area.
What are you going to ask me?
We want to meet the person behind the application. We’ll ask about your favorite classes and why you like them, your hobbies and extracurricular activities, and what you like about school.
