Big Red opened the 2006-2007 season with a convincing win over Northfield Mount Hermon, 50-19. The preseason emphasis on defense was evident: Exeter held NMH to six points in the first half! It was a team effort, with all thirteen varsity players participating in the game, and nine of them scoring, led by veterans Ali Comolli '08 with 12 points and Ingrid "Gritty" Oelschlager '07 with 11.

Exeter found its rhythm in the annual Ray Brown Holiday Tournament at Williston Northampton School. Using all 13 players in every game, including a different starting five in each contest, Big Red was able to sweep the competition and win the tournament. Ali Comolli '08 (Newburyport, MA), Jessica Flakne '07 (Londonderry, NH) and Alyssa Mackey '07 (Somerville, MA) were selected to the all-tournament team.
Against BB&N, every player contributed to Exeter's total of 70 points, led by Mackey and Comolli with 11 each. Shannon Comolli '10 (Newburyport, MA) also played a very strong game.
Exeter's depth, rebounding and defense were key factors in the 53-32 win over host Williston Northhampton. Ninth graders Shannon Comolli and Louise Breen (North Hampton, NH) led the scoring, with 10 and nine points, respectively. WNS was held to just 14 points in the second half as the Big Red defense began to gel.
The win over Wilbraham and Monson assured the tournament title. Again, the defense was excellent. The post play of Anna Nikolich '07 (Lynnfield, MA) and Rory Erickson-Kulas '08 (Naugatuck, CT) was particularly effective. --Submitted by Coach Mahoney
