Boys Crew: 2008 Season Roundup

Simply put, it has been a most special season for boys crew and the highlight was Saturday, May 24, 2008 at the New England's...

Conditions: partly sunny, 60s, 10 mph NW qtr-tail wind gusting to 15 mph. An amazing conclusion to the regular season. G1 led the field from the start, breaking the course record by two seconds and winning for the third time in three years (and fifth time in six years). Together with G2 and G3 open-water wins, the Girls sweep brings the Gilcreast points trophy home for the sixth time in seven years.

Andover led the B1 field for first 500m, with Exeter a half-length back in second. Exeter's middle 500 moves gave them the lead, and the eventual 1.7 second margin of victory, in the fastest time ever by an Exeter crew on Quinsigamond.  B1 win is the first since 2002, seventh since 1990.  B2 did well to finish just back of two stronger crews and well ahead of other three finalists. B3 did well to make finals.  A B1 and G1 trip to the Nationals is now an option.
