Girls Crew: 2008 Season Roundup
1st Boat : 4 – 1
2nd Boat: 5 – 0
3rd Boat: 5 – 0
Led by senior captains, Allison Courtin and Rebecca Kisner, with a total of 13 senior athletes, the crew of 2008 had a spectacular season. Building on the unity of 2007, the girls worked together across all six boats to strengthen the program from top to bottom. The girls boats 2-4 were undefeated in the season, and the first boat won all but one of its races by a margin of 10 or more seconds.
In the New England Championship, the girls performed the spectacular result of sweeping the regatta in all three boats, winning gold medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd boats. This resounding victory also earned the team the Gilcreast Team Point Trophy again, for the 3rd year in a row. In the final event of the day, in what was predicted to be a tight race, the first boat put on an impressive sprint to win the event by a generous margin of four seconds, and set a new course record for 1500 meters of 4:46.6. The 1st boat has an automatic invitation to the U.S. Junior National Championship Regatta in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 13-15.
