Girls Tennis: 2008 Season Roundup

Overall Record was 6–4 playing a very strong schedule.

They ended the season with two big tournaments: the Kent (May 17) and the New Englands (May 24).  At the Kent Tournament, girls "A" placed 2nd out of 12 teams. Lower Kelly Comolli won the #1 Singles Consolation bracket, and senior Ali Comolli was a semi-finalist in the #2 singles fight. The doubles team of Shannon Comolli '10 and Katie Quan '10 were doubles division champions.

At  the New England Tournament, the team placed 3rd out of 15 teams. Kelly Comolli placed 4th in singles while Ali earned team points by making it to the quarter finals round at number 2. Doubles team of Shannon Comolli and Katie Quan won the championship again at the New England's by rallying late and forcing a third and final 6–2 set for the title. Lowers Christina Poa and Cecila Hernandez won the doubles B consolation championship.

Congratulations are in order for Ali and Kelly at #1 doubles and for Shannon and Katie at #2 as both of these doubles teams were undefeated in dual and championship match play. This is the second straight season that Shannon has been a member of a doubles pair that won both the Kent and NE Tournaments. The team will graduate a lot of talent, but the underclass lineup will be one of the most experienced in New England next year.

The girls would like to thank Coach Megan Breen for her help this year and want to extend a huge thank you to Coach Joyce Kemp for her many years of dedication to the girls tennis program.
