Student Music Organizations
Student-led music groups rehearse regularly and perform at a variety of venues around campus including Assembly, Grill, dorm coffee houses and special events. These groups reflect a wide range of student interests and musical backgrounds.
Exeteras: This all-male ensemble of eight to 12 members performs barbershop, folk, and popular music. Adviser: Mr. Turner
Sans Hommes: This all-female ensemble of six to eight members performs folk and popular music. Adviser: Mr. Turner
In Essence: This all-female singing group that focuses on a soulful repertoire influenced by the R&B and Gospel traditions. Adviser: Mr. Turner
The Opera Appreciation Club: This club is dedicated to the promotion and enjoyment of Western opera at the Academy. Every week, the club meets to watch and discuss an opera on DVD with refreshments served afterwards. The choice of opera is determined by the membership, and can range from Verdi to Wagner, from Rossini to Puccini, Mozart and more. Each term, we plan to organize at least one outing to see a performance at the Boston Lyric Opera or Opera Boston on a Friday night before a Saturday without classes. Adviser: Mr. Turner
Peadquacs
Established in the early 1950's, this ensemble of eight to twelve co-ed members is the longest-running as well as the only co-ed a cappella group on campus. Peadquacs, "PEADS" for short, sings a wide variety of mostly student-arranged music that includes jazz, show tunes, golden oldies, folk, and popular music. Adviser: Mr. Turner
The Post-It Notes
This coed a cappella group of twelve to fifteen members sings a wide range of student arranged popular music including R&B, rock, and jazz. Advisor: Mr. Turner
The Piano Ensemble Club
The Piano Ensemble Club is dedicated to the exploration of the rich piano duo literature and allows students to develop new ways of collectively expressing, listening, and choreographing movement. Through an audition at the beginning of the year, pairs of pianists are matched according to level and experience. The Club encourages students to develop as a team and learn from each other. It includes three faculty coachings and a master class each term in which all groups perform for one another. At the end of the year, the Club presents a benefit concert to fundraise for a charity of the Ensemble's choosing. Advisers: Jon Sakata and Jung Mi Lee
Voices Of Praise (Phillips Church Gospel Choir)
The intent of the Voices of Praise is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, through the singing of various styles of gospel music. This ensemble provides music for worship services, campus events, and the Exeter community-at-large. The Voices of Praise is open to all PEA students, regardless of creed. Adviser: Rev. Thompson
Eastern Miracle
This all-male ensemble sings classic and contemporary music celebrating Korean culture. Adviser: Rev. Thompson
Exeter Association Of Rock (E.A.R)
This active club of rock 'n roll enthusiasts rehearses regularly and contributes to the many outstanding musical performances on campus. The E.A.R. is open to all interested individuals. Adviser: Mr. Squires
